Canva’s Magic Studio (Sydney) is a design-first AI suite; osFoundry is a model-agnostic orchestration layer for business workflows. How the two differ and where each fits for an Australian team.

dgm is an independent osFoundry integration partner — not affiliated with osFoundry’s maker (OS LLC), and dgm has no completed client integrations yet.

Canva (founded in Australia, headquartered in Sydney) bundles its AI features as Magic Studio — Magic Design, Dream Lab, Magic Write and related tools — aimed at design and content creation. osFoundry is a model-agnostic orchestration layer for business workflows. Both involve AI, but they do very different jobs, so this is a fit comparison, not a winner-takes-all.

The real difference

If your need is design and marketing visuals, Canva Magic Studio is an excellent, polished product and osFoundry does not replace it. If your need is orchestrating AI across business workflows — internal chatbots over your data, agents that act in your systems, document automation on the model of your choice — that is osFoundry’s job, and Canva does not do it. Plenty of Australian teams will use both: Canva for design, osFoundry for workflow AI.

Data residency

Canva is an Australian company but operates as a global SaaS; confirm its data-handling specifics with Canva. osFoundry’s managed cloud pins data to the US, EU or Japan — it does not currently offer an Australian managed region. For data that must stay in Australia, the honest path is self-hosting osFoundry (BYO Cloud) inside an Australian cloud region such as AWS (Sydney or Melbourne), Microsoft Azure (Australia East, Australia Southeast or Australia Central in Canberra) or Google Cloud (Sydney or Melbourne), or running models locally on-device. Pricing for both tools changes and varies by plan and usage — always check the official pricing page for current figures.

Where dgm fits

dgm is an independent integration partner that helps Australian businesses adopt osFoundry — scoping a first use case, handling the build, and connecting AI to the systems you already run. dgm can help you place AI design tools and workflow-AI tools in the right roles, and implement osFoundry for the workflow side. dgm is independent of osFoundry’s maker (OS LLC) and has no completed client integrations yet, so everything described here is a service offered, not a past result. If you want to scope a practical first project, dgm can help you map it out.
